Practice Profile:
Anita enjoys a busy family law practice. She regularly receives instructions across a broad spectrum of family law work. Anita understands the importance of providing urgent advice at short notice. She works with the utmost efficiency and skill and at all times aims to finalise any drafting/paperwork with minimal delay.

Anita receives instructions in a variety of ancillary relief matters. She enjoys number crunching and delving forensically into the papers. She has particular experience of cases which involve not only companies but also assets outside the jurisdiction. Pre-proceedings, Anita is also able to offer helpful advice about the way ahead.

Her public children act work includes cases in which non-accidental injuries are alleged including head injuries and bodily fractures and in which complex and at times conflicting medical information requiring technical analysis, is involved. Anita has also dealt with cases that involve starvation, chronic neglect and abuse. As well as representing parents and grandparents, she also appears in cases on behalf of Rule 16 Children's Guardians and cases in which the Official Solicitor is involved owing to the interrelation between capacity and mental heath matters. Anita represents a broad cross section of litigants and is particularly adept at dealing with very young and vulnerable clients. Anita also continues to accept work on behalf of Local Authorities.

Anita accepts instructions in relocation disputes, which are currently a topical theme in this area of work. In her private children act work she has particular experience of complex cases, which require the involvement of a Guardian and in which alienation is alleged. Anita has direct experience of dealing with cases which have a special needs element and also complex fact finding. Anita recently acted for a father who, it was found was wrongly accused of a litany of serious allegations including being involved in honour killings.

On an increasing basis step parents are seeking representation in private children act applications, Anita has direct experience of these types of cases and is happy to advise and provide representation in this area of work at any stage of proceedings.

Anita accepts instructions in these areas of work and is expanding this area of her practice.

Since the ability to work on a direct access basis has been introduced to the Bar, clients can now instruct Anita directly and take advantage of the skills of a barrister not only in terms of advocacy and negotiation skills but also advice about the way in which to progress your case and drafting of legal documents. There are some situations in which your case may not be suitable for direct access work. Do contact the clerks room for further information.
