Nigel Edwards KC was instructed to defend a private businessman in a case of serious assault by Safdar Ashraf, the senior partner at Ashcotts Solicitors, Manchester. Following an 8-day trial, the defendant was acquitted of the most serious count of assault on the indictment but convicted of another offence shown on CCTV. As a result of the verdict RD received a short suspended sentence.
