After a trial lasting more than three weeks, and the jury out less than a day,  Nigel Edwards KC leading Ranjit Lallie of Equity Chambers, Birmingham instructed by Shubdeep Murria partner at Newton Law Birmingham saw their client acquitted of 5 counts of rape, one count of serious assault and the possession of a knife.

A very complex case, one dating back to 2016- 2018, whose preparation involved the close analysis and presentation of many tens of thousands of text and WhatsApp messages, and social media posts.

A case involving very sensitive, difficult personal issues on both sides and one which required a robust approach but also very careful, understanding and gentle handling.

The defendant was convicted of that which he had broadly accepted early on, namely harassment and a technical kidnap, but acquitted of all that he denied.
